Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Y. Essential in fulfilling our promise to strengthen community, Y volunteers help us innovate to provide relevant responses to the communities’ ever changing needs. They strengthen our leadership by serving on our boards. They build our capacity to serve by leading our annual and capital campaigns. They transform lives by serving as leaders in Y facilities and out in the community.
Each year our YMCAs recognize a select few for their outstanding contributions of time and talent to improve the lives of our youth, adults, families.
Palo Alto Family YMCA is honored to recognize Alfred Sugarman for his dedication and service to our community. We are a stronger YMCA thanks to your efforts!
Alfred Sugarman - 2022 Distinguished Service Award
Alfred has been a dedicated member of Palo Alto Family YMCA’s Board for over six years. He has an unrelenting talent of taking on the tough tasks and pushing until he gets results. He most recently led an EV Charging task force, where a very involved process was in place to test the feasibility of installing EV chargers. He supported our annual campaign by raising much needed funds and supported both programs and operations by providing supplies and equipment. Alfred goes way beyond expectations. As a Board member, his leadership and overall involvement are irreplaceable.
