Each year, on the first Thursday of October, the South Valley Family YMCA hosts their annual Golf Tournament and Virtual Auction.
This year’s 22nd annual tournament brought together 26 Sponsors, 218 players, and over 40 volunteers. All proceeds from the Golf Tournament supported our RBJD - Rebecca’s Kids and Julie Dougan’s Live Strong Program.
RBJD is the legacy of Rebecca Boylan and Julie Dougan, and their impact on our community.
Rebecca Boylan was passionate about creating opportunities for at risk youth to reach their full potential. She fundraised to send kids to Camp programs that strengthen them socially and academically - strengths that would ensure a strong foundation for these youth to reach their future potential.
- Youth who went to camp grew academically, and often started the school year ahead of their peers, rather than trying to catch up.
- Youth who went to camp were often cited as better friends and peers by their teachers.
Rebecca fundraised to ensure that every youth had these opportunities. Rebecca passed away in 2020 - we continue to fundraise in her honor through Rebecca's Kids to create opportunities for all youth.
Julie Dougan was passionate about healthy living and ensuring that everybody had access to classes, programs, and equipment. But even more important, was the access to a community of like minded individuals and families that would create a sense of belonging and achievement.
Julie fundraised to create access to healthy living and a sense of belonging, community, and achievement.
- Julie passed away in 2018 from cancer.
- We continue to fund raise in Julie's Honor through Julie Dougan's Live Strong Program to support Cancer Survivors and their families.
- Funds raised in honor of Julie will enable Cancer Survivors have access to classes, programs, equipment, coaches, and a community to support their healing process by improving their strength, stamina, and confidence.
